Internal Grants & Awards

There are two types of intramural, competitive grants currently available through the Office of Research and Economic Development – the New Faculty Research Grants and Regular Faculty Research Grants. Faculty can apply for these grants by submitting an application with supporting budget forms by January 12, 2015, at 5pm. The awards’ funding period is March 2015 – June 2016.

The Faculty Senate Research Grants Committee reviews internal grant applications and makes recommendations to the Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development. A New Faculty and Regular Faculty Research Grant cannot be held simultaneously. Recipients of a previous internal grant must submit a final report before applying for another, and priority is given to faculty who have not received an internal grant for the last five years.

New Faculty Research Grants

These grants are awarded to full-time tenure-track faculty below the rank of professor, clinical faculty, research faculty, and academic professional faculty in the first three years of appointment. Faculty may apply for up to $5,000 individually or $10,000 for collaborative projects submitted by two or more UNCG faculty. Funds may be used for faculty salary provided UNCG guidelines regarding buyouts and add pays are met.

Regular Faculty Research Grants

These grants are awarded to full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty, clinical faculty, research faculty, and academic professional faculty. Applicants may seek up to $5,000 individually or $10,000 for collaborative projects submitted by two or more UNCG faculty. Funds may be used for faculty salary provided UNCG guidelines regarding buyouts and add pays are met.
