Dr. Jennifer Etnier (Kinesiology) received additional funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for the project “The Effect of Physical Activity on Cognition Relative to APOE Genotype.” It is important to identify preventive strategies that can reduce the risk of or delay the onset of Alzheimer’s disease, the abstract notes. Physical activity has potential in this regard. Her research team has a long range plan of research designed to further our understanding of the potential role of physical activity in the mitigation of cognitive decline and in the delay of Alzheimer’s disease.
