Nancy Hoffart, PhD, RN, joined the University of North Carolina at Greensboro on September 1, 2016, as the Forsyth Medical Center Distinguished Professor, a joint appointment between the UNCG’s School of Nursing and the Bryan School of Business and Economics.

Prior to joining UNCG, Hoffart was Professor and Founding Dean of the Alice Ramez Chagoury School of Nursing at the Lebanese American University, Byblos, Lebanon, from 2009 to 2016. Under her leadership the school was established and the bachelor of science in nursing program was launched. In addition, she led the university’s interprofessional education (IPE) program. The program brought together LAU’s nursing, medicine, pharmacy, social work and nutrition students to learn with, from and about each other’s roles and responsibilities, preparing them for collaboration in their future practice.

Hoffart received her BS in nursing from South Dakota State University, MS in nursing from the University of Minnesota, and PhD in nursing from the University of Virginia. She completed a post-doctoral research fellowship as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Nurse Scholar at the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY. She also worked previously at the University of Kansas School of Nursing, Kansas City, KS, and Northeastern University School of Nursing, Boston. She is an active researcher, focusing on the impact of change and innovation in nursing and health care and in health education. She has led the development of nursing programs at all levels, BSN, MS and doctorate. She has over 50 publications, and has received many awards for her academic accomplishments.
