Project Abstract

NC HERO (North Carolina Holocaust Education, Research, and Outreach), hosted by UNC Greensboro and developed in collaboration with the North Carolina Council on the Holocaust and the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching, will be a central destination for Holocaust education resources and activities. The objective is not simply to act as a museum exhibit, but to use technology to provide a deeper, more varied, and more interactive educational encounter with issues related to the Holocaust and genocide. Its content will include:
•    Calendars of events related to Holocaust and genocide education throughout North Carolina
•    Video clips, audio clips, photos, and narratives of witnesses and survivors
•    Refutations and responses to Holocaust denial/minimization
•    Links to reliable resources about the Holocaust and genocide
•    Survivor and witness responses to frequently asked questions about the Holocaust
•    Links to current scholarship dealing with Holocaust and genocide-related issues
•    Educational activities developed by North Carolina teachers
•    Lists of courses and workshops dealing with Holocaust and genocide education throughout NC
