DESCRIPTION:The Center for Women’s Health and Wellness is hosting its 5th annual Research Forum to showcase scholarly work related to women’s health and wellness at UNCG.\nThis in-person event will take place on Friday\, February 28\, 2025. We have identified an amazing keynote speaker\, Dr. Lisa Bowleg\, who directs the Intersectionality Training Institute. She will give a keynote presentation about her own research: “Intersectionality: An Indispensable Critical Framework for Qualitative Equity Research”. Dr. Bowleg will also lead a 2-hour workshop titled “The 5 Most Important Things Health Equity Researchers Need to Know About Doing Qualitative Intersectionality Research”.\nWe also plan to showcase research from across the university with an emphasis on girl’s and women’s health and wellness. We encourage faculty\, staff\, and students who are interested in presenting their work to submit an abstract. DESCRIPTION:February 11\, 12 PM. “Recognizing & avoiding predatory journals.” (1 hour session!) Presented by Anna Craft. Open access publishing provides many benefits\, including increased readership and higher citation rates. But when evaluating and selecting open publication venues\, authors must be aware of practices and characteristics that are associated with predatory publishing. UNCG librarians can help you find appropriate and reputable journals to publish in and can assist you in identifying journals to avoid. DESCRIPTION:The NIH Office of the Chief Information Officer and the NIH Office of Science Policy are hosting virtual “NIH Community Days” to discuss security best practices for Approved Users of NIH controlled-access data under the GDS Policy that maintain such data on institutional IT systems and third-party computing infrastructures\, ahead of the January 25\, 2025\, implementation of updated security standards.   \nScheduled for January 8 and January 10\, 2025\, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. ET\, these sessions are open to all researchers and institutional officials who are planning to request or already have access to genomic controlled-access data subject to the NIH Genomic Data Sharing Policy. Registration is required. Please use the links in the flyer for each day of the event to complete registration. ASL will be provided at the events. \nThe webinars will provide an overview of the new requirements outlined in NOT-OD-24-157 and related Frequently Asked Questions\, including details on how organizations can comply with the requirements.
