SUMMARY:Making it on Main Street
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Bryan School of Business & Economics School Climate Committee and co-sponsored by the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce\, this event bridges the classroom and the regional economy. It brings together business owners\, economic development leaders\, and strategic partners to explore how the Triad’s business landscape is evolving—and how we\, as educators and researchers\, can engage with it more intentionally. \n\n\n\nModerated by award-winning journalist Jordan Brown of FOX8 WGHP\, the panel will explore workforce development\, access to capital\, entrepreneurship\, shifting consumer behavior\, and regional growth strategy. Faculty will gain direct insight into the lived experiences of local entrepreneurs and the structural forces shaping business in Greensboro and across the Triad. \n\n\n\nThis event offers: \n\n\n\n\nA deeper understanding of the current economic climate affecting our students and community partners\n\n\n\nOpportunities to identify potential guest speakers\, research collaborators\, and experiential learning sites\n\n\n\nConnections with regional leaders who can inform curriculum\, case studies\, and applied scholarship\n\n\n\nInsight into inclusive and sustainable business practices happening right in our backyard\n\n\n\nThis is more than a panel. It is a professional development opportunity\, a networking space\, and a chance to strengthen the alignment between higher education and regional economic growth.\n\n\n\nFor faculty who are interested in grounding your teaching\, research\, and service in the realities of Greensboro and the Triad\, this conversation is worth joining. \n\n\n\n\nIf you have additional questions\, contact: Dr. Channelle James at cdjames2@uncg.edu

DESCRIPTION:North Carolina Community Engagement is our statewide group focused on community engagement work. Their annual Pathways to Achieving Civic Engagement (PACE) Conference seeks to grow and share the practice and scholarship of higher education community and civic engagement. Launched in 1999\, PACE is the longest-running regional conference in the nation focused on this topic. \nPlenary and breakout sessions advance the higher education CCE (community and civic engagement) field by sharing research findings\, innovative programs and partnerships\, effective curricular or co-curricular models\, strategies for institutional capacity building\, and best practices. Faculty\, administrators\, graduate students\, and  community partners are all welcome to explore “Pathways to Achieving Civic Engagement.” \nThe Call for Proposals is typically released in September\, with a deadline in November.
