SUMMARY:Ignite Transdisciplinary Research Fund Pitch Meet & Greet
DESCRIPTION:The Ignite Transdisciplinary Research Fund has been established by the College of Arts & Sciences to foster research collaborations between CAS and other colleges and schools at UNCG. On Tuesday\, Nov. 11\, CAS will host a 5-Minute Pitch Meet & Greet event from 3-5 PM in the Alumni House. \n\n\n\nPlease RSVP at go.uncg.edu/fiveminpitch \n\n\n\n\nFORMAT: Pitch your research idea in a 5-minute\, 2-slide pitch\, then connect with faculty from across campus during the meet & greet. If you will pitch\, email your PowerPoint slides (4:3 ratio) to Anna Marie Rogers (amrogers3@uncg.edu) by Monday\, Nov. 10.\n\n\n\nWho should attend? Faculty from all UNCG colleges and schools are invited\, whether you are pitching or not!\n\n\n\nOn the menu: food for thought — and also real food! Plus a chance to build a new research connection and apply for up to $25\,000 in internal funds for your collaborative project.\n\n\n\n\nMore about the Ignite Transdisciplinary Research Fund: \n\n\n\nThe Ignite Transdisciplinary Research Fund (IRTF) has been established by the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) Dean’s office to build research networks between CAS and other colleges and schools at UNCG. The Fund is supported at a level of $150\,000 in AY 2026-2027\, from which grants that range in size from $10\,000 to $25\,000 will be made. ITRF places a high priority on supporting the research aspirations of UNCG’s tenured and tenure-track faculty cohort. Priority will be given to projects that will contribute to the likelihood of external funding and/or recognition for their work. . Applications will be reviewed by a panel of experts drawn from the UNCG community and the panel will communicate their recommendations to the Dean of CAS for concurrence and award. \n\n\n\nProposals from UNCG faculty members are solicited. In order to build transdisciplinary research capacity across our schools and colleges\, proposals must include at least two researchers representing different schools or colleges\, at least one of whom must be a CAS faculty. Research teams should reflect new partnerships—they should not be already established research teams. The budget can include funding for student research assistants (undergraduate or graduate)\, material related to the proposed work\, travel and other project related expenses. This fund cannot be used to fund faculty salary or to buyout courses. The maximum project duration is 18 months. \n\n\n\nRequired Proposal Elements: \n\n\n\n\nCover Sheet to include: Name\, Department/Program\, College/School of Principal Investigators (1 page)\n\n\n\nProject Narrative to include: project description\, primary outcomes and milestones with timetable (project start date should be 7/1/2026)\, and identification of external funding opportunities to be pursued after completion of this project (2 pages).\n\n\n\nBudget and Budget Justification\, including info about past\, present\, and pending funding from other sources\, if applicable (2 pages\, total).\n\n\n\nCV for each PI (2 pages max\, per PI).\n\n\n\n\nSubmission Deadline: March 1\, 2026 \n\n\n\nSubmission Instructions: Submit the above elements as a single PDF to Chad Fogleman (jcfogleman@uncg.edu) \n\n\n\nAward Notification: by April 15\, 2026 \n\n\n\nProject Start Date: July 1\, 2026 \n\n\n\nPost-Award Requirements: \n\n\n\nInform the CAS Associate Dean of Research\, Dr. Amy Adamson\, about publications\, creative works\, and grants produced from this award. \n\n\n\nAttend and present preliminary findings at a principal investigator workshop organized by the CAS Dean’s Office in 2026-2027. \n\n\n\nWork with an assigned mentor to turn the research or creative work grant proposal into an external funds proposal after the award’s completion. \n\n\n\nSpend funds in the period outlined in the proposal budget.

SUMMARY:Research Administrator's Network Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) holds a monthly meeting called the Research Administrators Network (RAN). All research administration faculty and staff attend this meeting in which we discuss University and policy changes\, internal processes and procedures\, sponsor guidelines regarding proposal applications\, and award terms and conditions. The meeting agenda changes each month based on what is happening internally and externally with our sponsors. All faculty and staff are allowed to submit questions and agenda items. The meeting allows both OSP and the Office of Contacts and Grant Accounting (CGA) to provide regular updates and training to faculty and staff\, ensuring we are all on the same page. Research Administrators can use this forum to network and build relationships that will support their development and growth in research administration. OSP disseminates all information shared during this meeting in writing to participants\, so they have the information they need to complete their work. The meetings also help to facilitate a more team-oriented environment where we can work together to solve problems\, create procedures\, and gain a better understanding and appreciation for the people we work with whose work overlaps and intersects with ours. \n\n\n\nThe RAN “Lunch and Learn” Series: We encourage all staff who have attended a training or conference to volunteer to present a topic session to RAN. We call this the RAN “Lunch and Learn Series.” Sessions occur during the summer months of June and July. We typically hold four sessions on different research administration topics\, two per month.
