Contribute to the new Research Perspectives blog!

In a world inundated with smart phones, tablets, and easy internet access, news outlets of all stripes are turning to the power of blogs. Blogs have become dynamic tools, reaching audiences across the world in mere seconds and allowing unprecedented levels of engagement between people and organizations.

UNCG students and faculty constantly strive to engage more deeply with each other and our community as a whole. The Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) seeks to facilitate these interactions across our academic community with the launch of our new UNCG Research Perspectives blog.

Through the Research Perspectives narratives, students and faculty can share their successes in research, creative activity, and community and economic engagement with each other and the world at large. In an effort to capture each author’s unique viewpoint, blog entries will incorporate diverse media. Submissions can range from written entries with eye-opening images to video entries, either self-produced or developed in conjunction with experts at ORED.

In addition to showcasing UNCG talent and expanding each contributors’ professional presence, the Research Perspectives blog will serve as a valuable education and networking tool for our community. Business and entrepreneurship partners will contribute their own pieces, offering perspectives on keys to success and what they, in the private and nonprofit sectors, seek in job candidates. Each blog will also contain contact information, allowing students, faculty, and community partners to share information and opportunities and further develop their research and creative endeavors.

Here are a few of the questions to consider as you start developing your blog entry:

  • How would you explain your research/creative activity to someone with no background in your field?

  • How did you get started in this activity?

  • What is or was the best or coolest thing about engaging in your research/creative activity? What was the most challenging? What was the most unexpected?

  • Who have you collaborated with (students/professors/organizations/etc.) and what was that experience like?

  • How do you think your current research/creative activity has impacted you or will impact you in the future?

  • What brought you to UNCG?

  • What do you plan to do next?

Not sure about your writing or video star quality? Don’t worry, we’re here to help! ORED personnel will guide you through a multi-draft editing process until you are comfortable enough to share your product with the world. Contact us now to get the ball rolling!
