SUMMARY:Humanities @ Work Internship information sessions
DESCRIPTION:As a reminder\, the program is a year-long\, paid internship placement with one of 11 local organizations—community partners who are currently hard at work refining exciting student projects. These organizations include museums\, family-and youth-focused nonprofits\, agencies intervening into issues related to poverty in Greensboro\, organizations engaging directly with immigrants and refugees in the Triad\, and those focused on environment and sustainability. The H@W experience also involves students taking HUM 304 (T/Th 12:30-1:45 pm) and HUM 304L (F 2-3:15) in the fall and a 305-sequence in the spring. Together\, the experience enables students to have hands-on\, paid\, and credit-earning work in the community as they reflect and draw insights from these experiences and their humanities education\, all with an eye toward building pathways toward meaningful careers. \n\n\n\nOur team welcomes students to come to one of our student information sessions: today\, Mon 3/18 from 2-2:30 pm in MHRA 1209 or tomorrow\, Wed 3/19 from 1-1:30 in Curry 231. Here students will learn more about the details of the program\, student experiences from our current pilot experience\, and instructions on applying. Please also note that advising information has been sent to all departments and programs with eligible majors/concentrations. \n\n\n\nThe H@W experience is open to eligible students (based on major) who are looking for a meaningful opportunity and who are open to a fun and thought-provoking experience. No minimum GPA required. We invite you to encourage you students to learn more about the program and apply—we know that no recruitment is as successful as word-of-mouth endorsement. \n\n\n\nQuestions can be directed to haw@uncg.edu. \n\n\n\nThank you for your support as we engage communities and build careers!
