CNNC director discusses the global migration and refugee crisis on Democracy Matters podcast

With 71 million people displaced from their homes across the globe – the highest number of displacements since WWII – the world is facing a global migration and refugee crisis. Someone is forced to leave their home every two seconds due to factors such as war, political conflict, and economic crisis.

Center for New North Carolinians director Dr. Diya Abdo recently spoke about this crisis, and the ways we can address it, on the Democracy Matters podcast. Listen to the full interview below.

Dr. Abdo, a second-generation Palestinian refugee, founded the Every Campus a Refuge Initiative in 2015. ECAR advocates for housing refugees on college and university campuses, and helping them with resettlement. To learn more about ECAR, check out Dr. Abdo’s recent TEDxWakeForestU talk below.
