Dr. Revell Carr (Music) received first place in solo vocal category at the 2013 Charlie Poole Festival in Eden, N.C. The festival celebrates traditional string band music of the Piedmont. Carr leads the UNCG Old Time Ensemble, which was a featured performer at the festival this year. Carr and graduate student Christen Blanton won first place in the duet vocal category. She is a member of the Zinc Kings – all members are associated with the UNCG Old Time Ensemble – who placed third for “old time band” at the festival.
