Sills and Longworth of Triad Today discuss UNCG’s hands-on healthy housing research
“When I started digging into the issues around housing, I found how central it is, how important it is to all other things,” said sociology professor Stephen Sills in a new Triad Today interview. “If you don’t have a safe, healthy home, it doesn’t set you up well for the rest of your life.”
“It’s the underpinning to everything,” agreed host Jim Longworth.
In the excerpt below, Sills discusses how the UNCG Center for Housing and Community Studies is making a difference locally.
“We’re focused on community-engaged work, starting at the neighborhood level with residents, where they live, and building up from that. We work on developing new programs and evaluating existing programs and addressing gaps and need.”
