The cafeteria food experience, a high school conversation, and a lab focused on cell division all became seeds of inspiration for winning presentations at the 2025 Carolyn & Norwood Thomas Undergraduate Research Expo.
Janae Wofford sought a chance to join a lab as soon as possible. Going into her senior year, she will dig deeper into a tree she found in the nearby woods, which may provide answers to deadly “superbugs.”
Her interest in her own diet helped this nutrition major find her fit in college. Gourdine graduates this May, having dedicated hundreds of hours in dietary aid service and research into fighting childhood obesity.
Natalia Fagundez’s passion for languages led her to Lloyd International Honors College, where she pursued a customized interdisciplinary curriculum that elevated her special education degree with study abroad, research, and service opportunities.
