The College of Arts & Sciences is pleased to share two funding opportunities for Arts & Sciences faculty: the Timothy Johnston Faculty Award and the Arts & Sciences Faculty Award. Proposals to both funds are due March 15.

Timothy Johnston Faculty Award
The Timothy Johnston Faculty Award Fund supports research or creative work by Arts & Sciences faculty during the summer months. The fund can be used to support justifiable expenses, including travel, student research assistants, materials, or faculty summer salary. Proposals should be up to 2 pages long, submitted as a single pdf file. The proposal should include a project title, project description, and budget that describes how requested funds will be used. The Dean’s Office will make one award of $5000 for Summer 2026.

Proposals are due by midnight on March 15, 2026, and should be emailed to Anna Marie Rogers, amrogers3@uncg.edu.

Arts & Sciences Faculty Award
The Arts & Sciences Faculty Award supports Assistant and Associate professors’ professional development. Preference will be given to projects that involve travel for research or creative work and for pre-publication expenses related to scholarly writing or creative activity. Assistant professors and associate professors in the College are eligible, with assistant professors being given priority. Proposals should be up to 2 pages long, submitted as a single pdf file. The proposal should include a project title, explanation of the proposed professional development and how it relates to the faculty’s research/creative work, and a budget that shows how requested funds will be used. The College will make a single $5000 award or two $2500 awards, depending on the applications received.

Proposals are due by midnight on March 15, 2026, and should be emailed to Anna Marie Rogers, amrogers3@uncg.edu.
