Popular conservation method damages ecosystem

UNCG’s Dr. Akira Terui has found that large-scale fish releases negatively impact ecosystems as a whole, while offering little benefit and some harm to the species the releases seek to support. His team’s findings were published last month in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

A need for legal aid

UNCG’s Center for Housing and Community Studies released an assessment of South Carolina’s civil legal needs and the extent to which the state’s providers meet them. The SC study and a similar 2021 NC assessment found wide gaps between the needs of residents and the availability of legal aid.
