Dr. Emily J. Levine’s article “Baltimore Teaches, Göttingen Learns: Cooperation, Competition, and the Research University” was published in the June issue of The American Historical Review. In the article, she argues that the modern research university was co-created through mutual transatlantic exchange and reveals the historical roots of pressing issues facing the university today.
