Repost from Campus Weekly

Dr. Victoria Jacobs (Teacher Education and Higher Education) received new funding from The University of Texas-Austin for the project “Theorizing and Advancing Teachers’ Responsive Decision Making in the Domain of Rational Numbers.” “In a collaboration with the University of Texas at Austin and SRI International, this project explores teachers’ responsive decision making related to fraction instruction in grades 3–5,” the abstract says. “Responsive decision making refers to teachers’ instructional decisions that cannot be predetermined but instead must be continually adjusted based on children’s ever-changing ideas and actions. This interactive view of instructional decision making has proven challenging to implement, and we are working to better understand and promote this expertise through professional development.”
