Dr. Kaira Wagoner Wins New Grant From NAPPC

Dr. Kaira Wagoner, a research scientist in the Department of Biology, has received a new $10,000 grant from the North American Pollinator Protection Campaign (NAPPC) for her proposal “Development of a Beekeeper-Friendly Assay to Quantify Honeybee colony Grooming Behavior.”

Dr. Jonathan Chekan Receives New $1.1M NIH Grant

Dr. Jonathan Chekan, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, has received a new $1.1M award from the NIH’s National Institute of General Medical Sciences for his proposal “Bioinformatic Guided Discovery and Characterization of New RiPP Natural Products.”

New director selected for $7M UNCG center focused on youth and family

Dr. Kristen T. Christman is the new director of the Center for Youth, Family, and Community Partnerships, a 25-year-old interdisciplinary research, evaluation, and training center with $6.8 million in annual external funding to address pressing social concerns impacting families, children, and young adults across North Carolina.

UNCG housing policy & health research receives RWJF funding

UNCG has received a $228,000 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant to study housing code enforcement systems and how they impact housing conditions and thus health and racial equity. Part of a national cohort of 6 new studies funded by the RWJF, the study will engage Greensboro residents as participants and paid research collaborators.
