Melissa Skillings, the new director of UNCG's Office of Research Integrity

UNCG Research and Engagement is pleased to announce that Melissa Skillings, JD, MBA, MS has been appointed as the new director of the Office of Research Integrity.

Skillings has spent most of her career in higher education and brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She has served as UNCG’s assistant director of the Office of Research Integrity since January 2023, and prior to that she served as assistant director of scholarships in the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. She has also held positions at the City University of New York, New York University, the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, and Minnesota State University, Mankato.

In addition to her extensive professional experience, Skillings holds a juris doctorate from Hamline University School of Law, a master’s of business administration from University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, and a master’s in counseling and student personnel and a bachelor’s in psychology from Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Skillings was a first-generation student, and she credits her family for her strong work ethic and desire to continually pursue educational opportunities.

“As director, I aim to promote a culture of integrity and collaboration and to make compliance as straightforward and accessible as possible,” said Skillings. “UNCG is in a period of high research productivity, and I look forward to supporting our talented, passionate scholars as they make a difference in the world and in the lives of our students.”
