During the week of October 24th, there will be a series of events centered around breaking the silence against domestic violence. While domestic violence affects primarily women and young girls, it also affects others as well. We hope through the various events and stories that will be shared that you will be moved to help make a difference. Take the pledge against domestic violence and commit yourself to speaking up and learning more about the cause.
The Hunting Ground Film Series

This film examines the incidence of sexual assault of college campuses in the United States and what its creators say is a failure of college administrators to deal with it adequately.
Lunch & Learn with Bev Hoffman

Bev Hoffman is a human rights activist, filmmaker, and the Director of Human Rights Film Focus Nepal (HRFFN). He initiated the Wall of Hope Campaign, a project where the HRFFN team reaches out to schools and other institutions to create a wall that helps spread the message “say no to violence against women.” So far, Bev and his team have reached out to over 400 schools.
Silent Witness Project

A memorial event that honors and pays tribute to Greensboro residents who have been lost to acts of domestic violence. Hear the stories of men, women, and children who have been murdered by their current or former partners. Domestic violence survivors will also speak about their experience and how they were able to overcome their abuse.
Wall of Hope Campaign

The Wall of Hope Campaign provides a platform for education, artistic expression, and advocacy, while creating activities that are fun, engaging, and provocative. The Campaign is a call for action, and a challenge for young people to commit themselves to learning more, and to doing more to stop violence against girls and women. A co-created art project by UNCG students, our “Wall of Hope” will culminate the week Thursday night.
