Thursday, October 24, 3pm; Hodges Reading Room, Jackson Library
Please join us on Thursday, October 24 at 3pm in Hodges Reading Room (Jackson Library) for a lecture on “Florence Schaeffer and the Study of Science at the Woman’s College,” by Dr. Alice Haddy, professor in UNCG’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Dr. Haddy will discuss her research on Florence Schaeffer, who was hired as an instructor in the Chemistry Department at the North Carolina College for Women (now UNCG) in 1922. Schaeffer became Head of the Chemistry Department in 1934, leading the department for the next thirty years. We will also have a small exhibit of materials related to Schaeffer’s life and work.
