In our main photo by David Lee Row, Dr. Jonathan Chekan and his students conduct natural products research. The Chekan lab specializes in RiPPs, peptides synthesized by the ribosome and then modified, which are of high interest in the field of natural products discovery because their structures are more easily predicted from genomic data than those of other classes of natural products.
